ATTENTION & CHOICE

Before I Open My Inbox

Woman with a side braid sitting with her hands together on the desk beside an open laptop.

Before I open my inbox,I feel I owe an answer. The morning starts to feellike it belongs to everyone else.

Breathing in, I choosewhen and how to respond.Breathing out, I release the rushand turn to what matters.

Reflection

The inbox can make the morning feel spoken for before it has begun. I care about the people behind those messages, but that does not mean every request needs an immediate answer. Breathing gives me a moment to notice the rush and choose how I want to meet what is waiting, while keeping some attention for what matters today.

Before you open your inbox, what do you want to make room for this morning?
