PRESENCE & CONNECTION

Back-to-Back Meetings

The original illustrated Gatha card for “Back-to-Back Meetings”, which includes the verse as part of the artwork. The same verse appears as text below.

When meetings stack on my calendar,I feel the pressure to stay "on"without a break.

If I push through, I lose presence. If I check out, I lose connection.

So I pause between calls, and take one breath, before I begin again.

Reflection

The back-to-back schedule mimics progress. Moving from one demand to the next, without a break, feels efficient. Even necessary.

The unspoken rule: never disengage. But staying "on" without pause doesn't make you more present. It makes you brittle.

You miss the nuance, lose the thread, or blur into the background.

This moment isn't about escaping pressure. It's about interrupting the automatic push to the next thing. One breath acknowledges the demand and creates a gap.

That gap is where you make a choice: react, or intentionally step into the next conversation. A single breath resets the frame.

So, before the next meeting: pause. Take one breath. This is where you choose: lead the conversation, or let it lead you?
